How the score is calculated
Every check is deterministic and every weight is published below. The score is the points earned divided by the points that applied, so a check that cannot apply to your text lowers the total available rather than costing you marks.
Why publish the rubric at all?
Because a score you cannot audit is a score you cannot act on. Every other tool in this category reports a number and keeps its method private, which means you have to take the number on faith and you never learn what to do differently. Readability

What do the bands mean?
Great is 80 and above, Good is 65 to 79, Fair is 50 to 64 and Poor is under 50. Most business blog posts score in the sixties first time, and the points are almost always lost in the same three places: sentences over 25 words, no question-shaped headings, and no self-contained answer in the first 30 words under each one.
Why does writing style change whether an AI mentions you?
An assistant answering a question lifts a passage it can quote whole. A self-contained answer sitting under a heading phrased as the question is liftable on its own. The same fact buried in the middle of a 60-word sentence is not, no matter how correct it is. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why structure scores as heavily here as readability.

Is the content scorer free?
Yes, and there is no signup. Paste a post, get the score. It runs the same scoring code we use on paying client work, so the number you get is the number we would put in a client report.
Does it use AI to score the writing?
No. Every check is deterministic, which means the same text always gets the same score and you can audit exactly why. No model reads your text, so nothing you paste is sent to an AI provider.
Do you store what I paste?
No. The text is scored in memory and the result is returned. Nothing is written to a database and nothing is kept after the response, which is why there is no history and no way to retrieve an old score.
What is a good score?
Eighty or above is Great, 65 to 79 is Good, 50 to 64 is Fair and under 50 is Poor. Most business blog posts land in the sixties on their first run, usually losing points on sentence length and missing question headings.
Why does how I write change whether AI mentions me?

What is answer engine optimisation?
Answer engine optimisation, also called AEO or generative engine optimisation, is making a page more likely to be quoted when an AI assistant answers a question. It overlaps with SEO but rewards structure and self-contained answers far more heavily.
Does a good score guarantee I get cited?
No. Being quotable is one of three things that matter, alongside having authority on the topic and being crawlable at all. This tool measures the one you control entirely from the keyboard.
